We invite you to take part in our anonymous survey in which we are trying to understand how many organisations are moving to remote working on a long-term basis and how conscious those organisations are of the additional risks. Is the security of these workers being considered? Is advice being sought? What additional training and technical solutions are in place.
Prior Power Solutions has been selected for participation in the Fit for Offshore Renewables (F4OR) New Anglia Programme 2020, co-funded by the ORE Catapult and the New Anglia LEP.
With over 50 high quality expressions of interest received for the programme, Prior Power Solutions’ application was one of just ten selected. The success of our application was down to the potential value we can add to the renewables sector and the potential ORE Catapult sees for sustainable and successful growth in the offshore renewable energy sector for Prior Power Solutions.
James Rix, Managing Director says, “We are Looking forward to getting involved in this programme.”
“In this our 40th year we have identified that we are too dependent on oil & gas and we are looking to reduce that by adapting our products and services for adjacent markets such as offshore renewables.
“As shown by our recent rebrand, we are committed to undertake significant R&D into cleaner diesel and alternative-powered equipment.
“Being part of the F4OR Programme will allow us to develop and grow our business and expertise and learn from colleagues in other companies in the cohort.”
The F4OR New Anglia programme is the first regional F4OR programme. It builds on the learning from the pilot programme in Scotland and the ongoing support from New Anglia LEP’s Industry Advisory Group. A key feature of this regional programme is the concept of the “cohort”. More specifically, it is envisaged that whilst the individual companies have been selected and they will be working to improve and develop their own corporate profile and competence, they will also embrace a desire to work as a regional cohort. With a strong collective voice representing the supply chain New Anglia LEP is hopeful to gain greater impact through engagement with the offshore wind developers and other stakeholders. The cohort model will also support the development of business to business relationships, networks and strategic partnerships.

On Thursday 20th April, over 65 members joined us for a Business Breakfast at the Great Yarmouth racecourse. The Victory and Trafalgar suites provided a spacious setting where delegates could network over coffee upon arrival and speak to Great Yarmouth Borough Council who had a stand promoting Beacon Park.
Philippa Bindley events manager at Norfolk Chamber kicked off proceedings by welcoming guests. Guests then went straight into some Speed Networking which is designed to get guests talking to as many other people as possible.
When guests had finished their networking they tucked into a delicious breakfast served by the racecourse. Members then heard from John Vingoe operations manager for Seajacks spoke about the plans for East Anglia One the new wind farm in the East.
After John’s presentation about their vessels and how they are used members had the chance to ask some questions back such as do they work with oil and gas companies. Members found it interesting to know that they will be placing foundations for 66 new wind turbines in the local area.
Caroline Williams MBE finished off the morning by saying a thank you and farewell for her 17 years working for the chamber.
Morgan Sindall Construction’s Eastern Counties business has been appointed by the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NNUH) to deliver a new £25 million state-of-the-art diagnostic centre near to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
Procured through the NHS Shared Business Services (SBS) framework, the new NNUH Diagnostic Centre will include five MRI machines, four CT scanners, two Ultrasound rooms and two X-Ray machines, bringing essential health services closer to the local community.
The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is a large NHS academic teaching hospital in the Norwich Research Park on the western outskirts of Norwich. The Norwich Research Park brings together four independently renowned research institutes; John Innes Centre, Quadram Institute, Earlham Institute and The Sainsbury Laboratory with the University of East Anglia (UEA) and Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NNUH).
The new 40,000 sq. ft structure will be situated next to the Quadram Institute on the Norwich Research Park, connecting the pre-existing infrastructure at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital to the new services. A steel frame will be installed with brick façade in keeping with the rest of the University Hospital estate.
As part of Morgan Sindall’s Intelligent Solutions approach to supporting its customers to decarbonise, the Eastern Counties business will implement carbon reduction measures throughout the design and construction process. The team will utilise Morgan Sindall’s carbon reduction tool CarboniCa, which will ensure that potential carbon outputs are managed and reduced across the entire building lifecycle.
The new diagnostic centre will benefit from an air source heat pump system and is aiming for a BREEAM Excellent rating.
The Eastern Counties business has a strong track record in delivering high-end healthcare facilities across the region, having recently celebrated a topping out ceremony at the charity-funded Priscilla Bacon Lodge Hospice and completing a number of vital upgrades at James Paget University Hospital during the last decade with live further works being delivered.
Alister Broadberry, area director for Morgan Sindall Construction in the Eastern Counties, said:“Bringing essential, specialist services closer to local communities is paramount in serving the area in which we operate, as new facilities such as Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital’s diagnostic centre will play a key role in supporting patients and healthcare staff in the rapid diagnosis of disease, relieving pressure on waiting times and hospital workloads.
“Our open and collaborative approach means that we have been able to deliver sustainable healthcare facilities locally, regionally and nationally that are adapting to the changing needs of the community. The diagnostic centre is set to become a prime example of great design and the team’s forward-thinking approach, further enhancing Morgan Sindall’s reputation in the region.”
Simon Hackwell, Director of Strategy & Major Projects at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NNUH) said: “Demand for almost all aspects of diagnostics has been rising year on year. Imaging is such an important part of so many of our clinical pathways, including cancer and other urgent referrals. The centre at Norfolk and Norwich Hospital will be in a new building on the Norwich Research Park. This means it will be separate from the hospital’s emergency and inpatient demand and allows us to maximise throughput with planned appointments. Taken together the programme across Norfolk is the largest investment in health facilities since the Norfolk and Norwich hospital was built over 20 years ago. After so long in the planning we are really looking forward to working in partnership with Morgan Sindall to get on and deliver this for our patients,”
SNS2023 | East of England Energy Group Conference & Exhibition with Huxley Events
Exhibitions serve as an excellent platform for businesses to showcase their products and services, connect with potential customers, and bring together experts in a similar field. However, organising an exhibition is a complex and challenging task that requires a team of experts to ensure its success. Exhibition organisers play a significant role in making sure that an exhibition runs smoothly and achieves its objectives. In this blog post, we discuss why you should come to experts to organise your next exhibition.
Expertise and Experiencefrom Exhibition Organisers
A successful exhibition requires months of preparation and hard work. Exhibition organisers have the knowledge, expertise, and experience required to manage every aspect of an exhibition, from pre-event planning, to budgeting to post-event evaluation. They also have the skills to handle different challenges that may arise during the event, such as technical issues, last minute changes, and
Exhibition organisers also have the experience and industry knowledge that is invaluable in ensuring that an exhibition is successful. They know the trends and best practices in the industry, and this knowledge enables them to apply the most effective strategies to make your exhibition a success.
We always talk about “the power of one”. You should never leave planning down to just one person.. you never know what might happen. We had a client whose organiser left one month before the event with no hand over instructions! We always recommend having at least 2 people working on it.
Organising an exhibition requires significant time and resources. From venue selection to organising logistics, coordinating speakers and marketing the event, there are many things to be done. As a business owner, you may not have the time or resources required to do all of this yourself. However, professional organisers are experts in managing time and resources efficiently. They have the capacity to focus on multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritise them based on their importance. This ensures that no aspect of the event is neglected, and the event runs smoothly. When you enlist the professionals to help you, they shoulder the responsibility of managing all aspects of the exhibition, allowing you to focus on running your business without the added stress of event management.
Attention to Detail
Organising an exhibition requires impeccable attention to detail. Every aspect of the event is essential, and a minor oversight can have a significant impact on its overall success of the exhibition. Professional exhibition organisers have great attention to detail and focus on every aspect of the event, no matter how small…from the signage, to the seating arrangements, they pay attention to each and every detail. They are meticulous in their work and strive to ensure that everything is in place and running smoothly, so that your event is memorable and enjoyable for your attendees.
Exhibition organisers also have a deep understanding of the customer journey and understand what drives customer engagement. Having them as part of your team can be invaluable to your enjoyment of the event, and the overall success of the event.
Here at Huxley we have a passion for exhibitions, and a solid track record in planning, budgeting, and executing exceptional events! Many say the best exhibiton organisers in East Anglia!
Jonathan Reynolds, along with his wife Lauren established Serene Safety 2-years ago. In those two years the company has seen growth across its consultancy and training arms. ‘I’d always aimed to start my own consultancy one day’ says Jonathan, who has been providing training and advice on health, safety and risk for over 15-years.
‘I started small, with only a few hundred pounds, a credit card and the network I had grown over the last 15-years in the industry. When I called round my contacts to tell them that I had started my own business everyone was very supportive, and my first few projects were borne out of the relationships I had made with those people. Jonathan continued ‘The name of the business didn’t come about by accident either. I had seen, over the years, that it had been over complicated in areas and viewed as a ‘minefield’ in others therefore I always strived to keep things as proportionate as they could be. That’s why the company has three core values of being simple to do business with, treating our customers business like we would or own and never letting a challenge get the better of us. Keeping people safe and healthy at work isn’t rocket science at the end of the day.
As part of the growth plans for the company Jonathan wanted to include accredited training to what they do, as well as the bespoke aspects a lot of companies want. ‘I opted for the IIRSM Managing Risks: The Essentials and, flagship, IOSH Managing Safely to compliment what we do already. The two bodies that accredit these courses are global institutions so it made absolute sense to offer these.’ We have been running these for the last 12-months with success.
Serene Safety is the only company in East Anglia that offers both IOSH and IIRSM accredited training courses. These really complement each other with Managing Safely focussing on safety and health aspects and the MRE course taking a broader business view on risk – it really balances what we have to offer a range of businesses.
Serene Safety have expanded further by adding the IOSH Working safely passport to the repertoire. ‘This broadens our reach to all members of an organisation so risk can be talked about from grass roots, all the way up to management. Pair that with the work we do with leadership teams and boards on strategy and direction, and we can support all layers of an organisation.
“It was a great honour to receive the Kings Award for Enterprise recognising our success in International Trade. We have exported our sonar products to over 70 countries and this would not be possible without all of the team at GeoAcoustics who design, build and ship our systems.” – Richard Dowdeswell, Chief Commercial Officer
The King’s Awards for Enterprise is the most prestigious award for UK businesses and can bring substantial benefits to winners, including increased staff morale, boosts to turnover and international trade, promotes greater recognition and excellent marketing opportunities.
