Whether you are new to the role of Chairing or just want to polish up your existing skills, this half day course aims to give you the basic tools needed to understand your responsibilities as a Chairperson before, during and after a meeting and the role of others at meetings.

The NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health is a qualification designed to help those with health and safety responsibilities – for example, managers, supervisors and employee representatives – to carry out their duties at work more effectively and to protect the organisations for which they work.
Many people take the NEBOSH National General Certificate course as a first step in a career in health and safety as it provides a valuable overview, and is a sound basis for further professional study.
The National General Certificate is the most widely held health and safety qualification in the UK with over 160,000 people having gained the award since it was launched in 1989.
The NEBOSH General Certificate is accredited at Level 3 within the National Qualification Framework and also meets the academic requirements of IOSH for Technician membership (TechIOSH). The qualification is also accepted by the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (llRSM) for associate membership.
The NEBOSH course runs over 10 full days (9.00am – 5.00pm) and 2 half day revision sessions (9.00am – 1pm).

Agile project management is a way of approaching a project using small and powerful teams. These teams take greater ownership of tasks, understand the bigger picture and work on a cycle of continuous improvement to accelerate towards being the best they can be.
Get Agile in a Day
This session will provide you with an overview of what Agile project management is, where it comes from and the potential power it has for small teams. In this workshop, we will be discussing how you can apply Agile to all kinds of project management, and the session will be an interactive experience for you to learn Agile and Scrum Framework concepts. Further, the day will provide you with clear and engaging demonstrations of how Agile methods are used in practice through group activities and personal reflection and we will also share some quick wins with you to help you get started on your Agile journey.

Activate follows the Lean Startup process, creating and developing our idea in short cycles allowing us to gather feedback to influence changes in the business. Taking place one session a week for four weeks, Activate allows you to work through a plan of action in a more interactive and structured way, giving you the time to reflect. The Activate programme has been designed to allow you to work with peers in a similar situation to yourself, allowing you to build your own support network and champion one another.
The Four Week Programme:
Week 1 – 27th April – Ideas & Assumptions
In session one we take a closer look at your idea and understand what value it brings to your customers. Creating a Customer and Product Canvas we can then begin to look at implementing ways that the product and the process of purchase can be more effective; giving you a greater chance of creating an attractive product or service.
Week 2 – 4th May – Customers & Marketing
In session two we begin to examine your targeted customers in more detail. Who are they? Why do they buy from you? How can we best access them? During this session, we will create our own Customer Profiles highlighting who our targeted groups are, and then we will go about creating a Marketing Strategy to best access at the earliest opportunity.
Week 3 – 11th May – Your Operations
In session three we focus more on you, and your ability to create the product or service you are providing. Through the creation of an Operations Map, we will be able to understand what a typical process from start to finish will be for the creation of goods, allowing you to remove clunky actions and streamline the process. Here we also begin to plan how you can remove risks from your operations and accentuate the potential rewards!
Week 4 – 18th May – Business Model & Vision
And finally, in session four, we bring together everything from the previous three sessions and create your Business Model Canvas. Here you will be able to see everything that you will be doing externally (attracting, engaging and communicating with customers) and internally (activities, partners and resources). Once the business model has been created we will then begin to create a Vision and the actions you need to perform to get there.
All of this combines into creating a more visual and accessible business plan, rather than the traditional approach of creating document after document trying to define your business! The team of Innovation Advisors from Hethel Innovation will be there to help guide you through this process, and for continued support following the course. Following the completion of Build a Business in a Day, businesses that meet the following criteria will gain access to a further 6 hours of support:

You are a business that employs less than 250 people.
You are a business with a turnover of no more than £41m.

This course enables attendees to take personal responsibility for following food safety procedures, keep themselves clean and hygienic, receive and store food safely and prepare, cook and hot hold food safely. By the end of the course, employees who handle food will gain a firm grasp of the importance of food safety systems, techniques and the procedures involved, an appreciation of Food Safety Hazards and the confidence and expertise to deliver food safely to customers. Duration: One-day course (9:00am – 4pm approximately) IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON COVID-19 – PLEASE READ Lunch provided: For full day training courses a lunch with sandwich or salad, crisps and cake or fruit will be provided. Hot drinks and bottle water will be provided but please bring snacks with you at present. This may change dependent on restrictions and when your course will take place. Classroom set up: We are still operating with learners 2 metres apart for your safety and the maximum size is determined on the room. This will be a maximum of 5 learners. The room will be thoroughly cleaned before and after use. Induction: On arrival, learners will be asked if they or their household has any symptoms. Anyone exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms will be excluded and moved to the next available course. As a facility – we do have the test and trace QR code onsite which we kindly ask to be scanned upon arrival. We kindly ask delegates to where a face covering when moving around inside but these can be taken off when seated.
