The Eastern Daily Press has named The TaxAssist Direct Group as a finalist in the Large Business category in the Norfolk Business Awards.
The annual Eastern Daily Press Business Awards are a celebration of business success within the Eastern Region. All the entries have been rigorously analysed, after the finalists were interviewed as part of the process to help inform the final decision as to who will be named winner next month.
Karl Sandall, Group Chief Executive of The TaxAssist Direct Group, said: “To even make the shortlist is a huge honour, and highlights the stature of our business which has grown so successfully since its inception in Norwich in 1995. We now have more than 250 franchised areas across the UK, Ireland and Australia, with the network servicing over 84,000 clients with a combined fee bank of more than £55.4 million.
“We moved to new premises 5 years ago and last year doubled the size of our office on the prestigious Broadland Business Park to cope with demand from our fast-growing franchise network. We plan to recruit further new employees this year, as new support lines to our global franchisee network are added. We are also progressing well with plans to launch in Canada and USA in 2020.”

The Digital Growth Grant Ecosystem Partnership Programme aims to boost the growth of UK tech start-ups and scaleups for the next two years. Successful applicants will access an ecosystem connecting them to business growth experts through dedicated programmes and mentoring.
The Digital Growth Grant objectives are defined as:
Deliver support services to the digital sector, particularly in transformative/emerging technologies. These services should address key challenges faced by a wide range of tech companies from the seed funding stage to series A/B, their first or second round of financing.
Grow regional support networks for tech startups and scaleups. Activities should deliver concrete improvements in three areas: investment, innovation and business growth. Support should be tailored to local needs and tech specialisms, and should be developed in partnership with local bodies and existing tech groups.
Ensure founders and firms can access digital entrepreneurship and investment readiness training, with tailored advice to help develop their skills to start and grow a tech business
Clearly signpost startups and scaleups to existing initiatives in the private and the public sector across the UK that can help them access finance, talent and markets.
The programme is backed by a £12 million UK government grant. There is a minimum request of £50,000 per application, which must be fully utilised and funded activity must have been completed by March 2024.

This year’s Thetford Business Awards were launched on October 19, with representatives from Norfolk County Council and Norfolk Chamber of Commerce as well as the town’s mayor and its sponsors attending.
The awards are run by owner of The Thomas Paine Hotel, Gez Chetal, chairman of Thetford Town Football Club Nigel Armes, and his mother and a former mayor and councillor of the town, Sylvia.

With plenty of activities planned, such as high ropes, canoeing and a trip to the theatre they will have the opportunity to forge new friendships and create amazing memories.
