NU Image is swapping keyboards for paddles this September, as the team takes on a full 26.2-mile rowing marathon, ‘the Ma’Row’thon’ to raise vital funds for the Norwich City Community Sports Foundation (NCCSF).
With support from Norfolk Yacht Agency and Whitlingham Adventure, eight members of the NU Image team will row a katakanu along the Norfolk Broads from Brundall to Norwich and back again, cheered on by a dedicated support boat armed with snacks and music to keep spirits high.
Raising money for Norwich City Community Sports Foundation
The NCCSF is a charity dedicated to empowering people through sport, running community and inclusion programmes that make a real difference. This year, NU Image’s fundraising will support The Nest, the Foundation’s community hub with sports facilities, meeting spaces, and a café where transformative projects take place — from dementia support groups and Pan-Disability football sessions to coffee mornings for veterans.
The charity holds a particularly special place in the heart of NU Image’s Director and Head of Digital, Emily, thanks to her connection with Hope, a 19-year-old participant in the Foundation’s Realising Potential programme. Hope has grown from a shy child into a confident young leader, now volunteering and coaching at The Nest, and it’s a transformation made possible by the NCCSF’s care and dedication.
How to support the Ma’Row’thon
The challenge takes place on Friday 19th September, starting at Norfolk Yacht Agency in Brundall, travelling along the River Yare into Norwich city centre, and returning the same way.
You can support NU Image’s efforts in two ways:
– Donate directly via their JustGiving page — every pound goes to NCCSF’s life-changing projects.
– Cheer them on at top viewing spots like The Red Lion Bishopgate, The Compleat Angler, or The Ribs of Beef as the team rows through Norwich.
Oar you ready to get behind them?

Unemployment fell by 115,000 compared with the previous three months
The unemployment rate was 6.0%, down from 6.3% in the previous three months, and the lowest since late 2008

Commenting on the latest labour market statistics for November 2014, published today by the ONS, David Kern, Chief Economist at the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) said:
“These figures highlight once again that the UK labour market remains strong, and that the pace of economic growth continues at a steady pace. Pay rises have increased but remain weak, and living standards are still under pressure. Despite this, these figures suggest that there is considerable scope for the economy to continue expanding steadily. Both the MPC and the government must make every attempt to counter signs of a slowdown – and next month’s Autumn Statement will be an opportunity for the government to take bold action and support growth and enterprise.”
Employment Minister Esther McVey said: “Record numbers of people in work means more people with the security of a regular wage who are better able to support themselves and their families. “With the vast majority of the rise in employment over the last year being full-time, it’s clear that thanks to the Government’s long-term economic plan, we are helping businesses to create the jobs that people need.
“The East of England has the joint highest employment rate of all the UK regions at 76.5% with 49,000 more people in work compared to this time last year, so as the economy continues to grow, more and more people are having their lives transformed by moving into work.”
Caroline Williams CEO Norfolk Chamber of Commerce said: “These figures confirm what our members are telling us is that they are quietly confident about the future. They are starting to take on new staff to provide them with additional resource to be able to take advantage of the new opportunities which are available to them. It is however still a tough economic climate and the Chancellor needs to give this region a boost by listening to the Norfolk business voice and investing in our infrastructure road, rail and broadband”

On a chilly January Morning around 70 delegates joined the Norfolk Chamber at the Comfort Hotel Great Yarmouth for a morning of business networking.
The morning started off with a networking ice breaker that got the delegates laughing and created a really positive, buzzing atmosphere. It was explained to them how the way drew a pig reflected some of their personality traits. It was then onto breakfast followed by safari networking and the ice breaker One Truth, One Lie.
Delegates then heard from key note speaker Ian Hacon, Yellow Brick Road on his 7 top tips to keep them more effective when at work and how to work to your full potential. Ian said we should spend the majority if our time in the ‘non urgent, important stuff’ as this is where the growth in business happens. This was followed by a short Q&A and then some more free networking at the end of the breakfast.

Commenting ahead of the introduction of the Scotland Bill – which would see a range of new powers devolved from Westminster to Holyrood – John Longworth, Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce, said:
“As Westminster debates legislation to enshrine new powers for Scotland, business communities across the UK are paying close attention.
“Businesses want transfers of power away from Westminster to be clearly tied to delivering growth and prosperity for the nations and regions, through meaningful consultation and careful consideration of the impact on business.
“Greater tax differences between the nations and regions of the UK may create challenges for business, a fact that has so far been absent from the UK political debate. Administrative boundaries must not become barriers to trade and competition, for the sake of political expediency.
“Businesses in all parts of the UK want their voice heard before sweeping changes to the constitutional settlement are made.”
