The Maids Head went back to 1549 and Kett’s Rebellion to mark Norfolk Day on Saturday 27 July and raised £89 in donations from guests for the hotel’s charity of the year, Break.

Short Careers Film Clips – Help needed!

New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership are looking for volunteers who would be willing to be filmed as part of a new Norwich Opportunity Area project aiming to raise aspirations. Can you help?

We are planning two filming days in Norwich on Wednesday 14th August & Tuesday 20th August with the intention that the filming team visit various Norwich based employers for about an hour to film 10-15 people each.

We are looking to create short film clips of careers stories from 100s of people across Norwich from all sorts of different backgrounds/ages/journeys.  The aim of the project is to create an online mosaic of local stories to raise awareness of different types of careers and opportunities available in Norwich from a range of sectors.  We would ideally be looking to use a quiet meeting space or breakout area for the filming.

Questions will be along the lines of … What were your career aspirations as a child?  How does that differ from what you do now?  Without using your job title, can you describe what you do?  Looking back, what do you wish you knew before choosing a career? Please confirm to Katie White – katie.white@newanglia.co.uk – whether you are interested by the end of the week.  And if so, whether you have a preference for either of these dates?

Safety Poster Competition Winners

We recently held a design a safety poster competition for our employees relatives in two age categories, under 8’s and 8-12 years. We have chosen two posters as the winners thanks to Amber and Kristianna! One poster focused on the hazards an engineer might face during their work in the hangar, whilst the other focused on the common PPE needed to control some of these hazards. The two girls came to collect their prizes and enjoyed a tour around the facility to see where their relatives work. These posters will proudly be displayed at our facility! #safety #health #klmuke #engineers #maintenance #apprenticeships #drawing #posters #careers #skilled #Norwich #Norfolk #families #workingsafely #training #MRO #inspiration #futureengineers #futuregeneration #engineer #design #competition

Local Finance Firm Publishes Children’s Book

A local teddy bear is making waves in literary circles – and with young families – thanks to his debut novel.

Eddie Teddie has been a fixture at Face to Face Finance, a local firm of independent financial advisers, for a number of years. He has his own section on their blog as well as his own social media channels. Business owner, Julie Hunt, explains more:

“We believe the younger that people start to understand and take responsibility for their money, the better for their long-term financial security. Eddie Teddie is the perfect avenue for helping parents and carer to gently teach their children about money. We’ve had a great response to his articles and wanted to extend that through his book.”

Eddie Teddie’s Big Summer of Savingis aimed at children from age five to eight and is a fun story with a gentle message about the importance of saving up for things you really want. It features Eddie, along with some of his friends. Face to Face Finance is giving a copy to their clients – although some have already come back to buy more! Alternatively, you can buy directly from Face to Face Finance. Julie continues:

“When people buy from us directly, we’re giving them the option to buy a second copy at a discounted rate, with the spare copy being gifted to a disadvantaged child. We’re also setting aside a proportion of all profits to buy Medibears for the Jenny Lind Children’s Hospital at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.

The book was created partly as a fun aside, but we hope to do some good as a result. The dream is to get the book into local schools.”

Eddie’s book was officially launched at the Great Ellingham Teddy Bear Festival. He’s since been spreading the word with Julie amongst local businesses and will be making more personal appearances, with signed copies available, in the coming weeks.

The book was written, designed and printed with the help of local marketing agency, Example Marketing and Web Design.

To buy a copy of the book, please email info@ftof-finance.co.uk. Eddie’s book will soon also be available to buy on Amazon.

We’re Working With Business Reviewed

The whole team at Tudor Lodge Consultants is thrilled to announce that we are now working with Business Reviewed, the new way for businesses to discover and explore related services for their business.

Business Reviewed are changing the way in which business services and products are discovered and dealt with. Traditionally, to find business services like accountancy software, business bank accounts, merchant services for retail premises, businesses would undertake what was a very manual research process. Whilst comparison sites certainly exist for the likes of insurance and other consumer financial products, businesses are often left behind.

This is something that the team at Business Reviewed are working to change.

What We Are Doing

Crawling Factors – Working through the site, we are working to ensure that every page of the Business Reviewed website and all content on the site are crawled [read and understood] by search engines. This has entailed us working on the meta data, on page titles and image tags (alt-texts) to help search engines understand what is on the site and what it all means in the context of search engine rankings.

User-Friendly Factors – In this day and age, user experience and user intent are everything. Hence, it has been one of the priorities to ensure the site is geared up for users to understand the purpose of all of the content on the site and be led to a point of becoming a lead. The Business Reviewed website has taken the specific intent of business owners and decision makers into account throughout the design process.

Content and Information – One of the key factors in SEO is the content and its ability to be read and understood by both readers and search engines. There is a fine line to tread to ensure the content does not become too technical to satisfy search engines, nor too conversational to only satisfy users. Maintaining this fine balance will always be at the forefront of the Business Reviewed website

Eye Film: Telling a Story

When we first went to meet the team at Harrogate Ladies College they made it clear that they wanted a different kind of school film, one that told their story and that incorporated their ideal of ‘I am me’, encouraging their students to be very much individuals. We love to tell stories and this was a great fit for us with our background, so after brain storming as a team we went back to them with the concept of using a poem to take the viewer on a journey. They loved the idea and having won the pitch, we then spent some time getting to know the school and devising the poem with the marketing team there, before carefully planning the shoot. After time in the edit suite, here is the final result. Thank you to everyone involved.
